Florence's Flight Bag

We are flying to Argaka on Sunday afternoon, wahoo!!! I had to keep our Holiday a secret from Chris since February as it was his 21 Birthday present, and the time has gone so slowly but we are finally going on Holiday! Florence’s plane bag is essentially what I’d pack in my Changing Bag with some added extras to keep her occupied during our 4 hour flight.

Food

All of Florence’s food items will be packed into a large, clear zip lock bag. Mostly for ease and knowing that everything is together, but also because I am not sure whether they’ll need to be screened separately due to them being liquid items.

Sterilised Bottles - Enough for the flight and then a couple of extras,  just as a backup in case we incur delays.

Ready Made Milk – I have packed enough 200ml Aptamil Bottles for the duration of our flight. I have also ordered extra bottles to be delivered to the Boots within the Terminal, again incase of delays.

Food Pouches – We will be having Breakfast at our Hotel before our flight, but Florence will need to eat Lunch and Dinner on the go. For ease, I have bought a few savoury Ella’s Kitchen pouches and some fruit ones for pudding.

Snacks –I have packed a variety of Organix and Kiddylicious snacks to keep her busy in between main meals. They are mostly chunky maize snacks so they are easy for Florence to hold and nibble on.

Overall Bib – Florence isn’t the cleanest of eaters so I want to keep her as covered as I can! We picked up a spare Apron Bib from Tesco to pop into the bag. It has long sleeves and a high neck so fingers crossed we’ll avoid the mess.

Koko Pouch Spoons – We found these clever little spoons in Tesco. They are by KoKo and fit onto most food pouches. They also come in a handy little travel case that fits nicely into our bag. Again, these were bought for ease during the flight as we won’t have much space to mess around with bowls and spoons.

Sippy Cup – Florence uses the Tommee Tippee First Cup at the moment. It’s very small and non leak which is perfect for long journeys. I’ve read that the dry air inside the Cabin can make you very thirsty and I don’t want Florence to become dehydrated.

Clothes

Sleepsuits - Florence will be travelling in a Sleepsuit so that she is cosy and comfortable. We are also taking a couple of spares in case of mess or explosions!

Cardigan – Most aeroplanes have their Air Con on constantly during the flight so we’ll be bringing along a little cardigan to keep her warm if it gets too chilly on board.

Blanket – The same as above, another “just in case” item!

Changing

I’ll be taking my Baby Beau Changing Mat Organiser that I use every day. I’ll be filling it with Florence’s usual nappies and a brand new pack of Water Wipes. It’s small enough to pop into any bag and means that all of her changing things are together for ease and we’ll always have a changing mat close by.

Toys

We will be packing a few of Florence’s favourite toys in our hand luggage, and the rest in our suitcase. We have also brought Florence a brand new LaMaze toy to take with us so that she has something new and exciting to play with!

I have also packed a couple of her favourite books for us to read together, including sensory books that Florence can touch and feel.

Others

Red Book – I’m sure that Florence will be absolutely fine while we’re on Holiday (touch wood!) but just in case, I’ll be taking her Red Book with us. It contains all information relating to immunisations, weight, medical history, and useful numbers.

Medicines – I’ll be packing a small zip lock bag filled with Dentinox, Anbesol Liquid, Teething Granules, and the small 5ml Sachets of Calpol and Calprofen along with a medicine spoon. All of the tubes and sachets are less than the 100ml liquid allowance which is great!

Plastic Bag – In case of accidents I’ll be packing a plastic bag to put any dirty items in.

And that’s about it!
Is there anything that I’ve missed that were your life savers while flying with a baby?

Florence's Eight Month Update

Weight

Chris and I took Florence to our Children’s Health Clinic this morning and Florence now weighs 17lb 7½ oz! She is currently sitting back on the 50th Centile which is one whole Centile difference since she has started weaning. I am so happy with this as she is now back to where she was before her weight started dropping.

Daily Routine

Florence is still sleeping through the night! She goes to sleep at 7.00pm but has started waking up a little earlier than before. We can now expect her to wake anywhere between 6am and 7.30am (the 6am starts are hard!).

Due to the earlier starts, Florence now has her first morning bottle at between 6.30am and 7.00am. She’ll then have her breakfast around 8.00am with me. After breakfast Florence has a little play until around 8.30/9.00am when it’s time for her morning nap. We still wait until after breakfast and her morning nap before getting Florence dressed! She’ll then have another bottle around 10.30/11.00am. Now that it’s the Summer Holidays we don’t have Baby Classes every day, but as Chris is off work too we make sure that we have something fun planned for every day! It’s still usually after her 10.30/11.00am bottle that we’ll head off out for the day so that some similarity remains in her routine. Florence eats her lunch around 12.00pm and we have found that it is much easier to give her lunch when we’re out of the house now that she’s eating finger foods at Lunch Time. Depending where we are, Florence will have her afternoon nap at 2.00/2.30pm either in the Pram or in the Cot. Florence then has her afternoon bottle slightly earlier, around 3.00/3.30pm. I try and give Florence her dinner a little earlier at 5.00pm now. She had stopped drinking her night time bottle and I think it’s because she was still full from dinner. After dinner she has pudding and a last little play before her bath, bottle, story, and bed at 6.30pm.

Florence’s naps still vary in length. Sometimes she’ll sleep for half an hour, and other times she’ll sleep for three hours. Lucky her!

Eating

Florence is still drinking 4 x 5oz bottles over a 24 hour period and is still eating three solid meals a day. She loves feeding herself finger foods but is still enjoying me feeding her Breakfast and Dinner. She is starting to take more of an interest in holding the spoon and feeding herself. It tends to be very messy but it’s all learning!

Clothing

Florence is currently still wearing 0-3 Months Sleepsuits and 3-6 Months Clothing. However, we are going on Holiday this week and all of her Sleepsuits are 3-6 Months and her Clothing is 6-9 Months. When we return home I’ll be packing up all of her smaller clothes that she’s wearing at the moment. Sob.
Florence has moved up a size in Nappies and now wears 4+. Size 4 would have been fine but I find the + size Nappies more absorbent, especially as she doesn’t have a nappy change during the night anymore.

Development

Sitting up –Florence now sits up completely unaided. She didn’t go through that half-wobbly stage like you hear about, one day she just suddenly got it and hasn’t looked back since!

Crawling – She is just sooo close to crawling! She now spends most of the time up on all fours rocking backwards and forth. She is trying her hardest but her leg still slips backwards as she tries to bring it forward. I've uploaded a video below so that you can see what I mean, bless her!

Teething – Florence has cut two little toothypegs. Both of her lower front teeth have popped through and a third is on its way!

Weaning Diaries // Week 14

This week Florence has been a little Monster at Dinner Time. She's eaten Breakfast and Lunch absolutely fine, but when it came to Dinner she would gag on everything and then make herself sick. It's been very stressful but luckily it only last three or four evenings and she soon returned to normal. It may have been that pesky third tooth of hers that is trying to make an appearance!

Chris Graduated University on Tuesday! It was a long, full day in London , hence the lazy Ella's Kitchen pouches for Breakfast and Dinner.

Florence tried Pesto and Grapes for the first time this week. They both went down a treat. She also nabbed one of Chris's Chips but wasn't so keen on it!

Here is Florence's food diary for Week 14 -
